Divided and waiting to be conquered

Kos has written about, and run graphs that illustrate, the tremendous growth the site has recently experienced, but I've never seen him try to explain who the huge new crowd is, or where they all came from. They're not all new citizens, and they're not all newly released prisoners, so who are they? As Kos would say, it's easy! Our new members were until recently the Lee Greenwood adoring, George Bush loving, Rush Limbaugh listeners we saw booing Michael Moore and hating the Dixie Chicks. They are the very ones we at Dkos couldn't understand because they were all so blind to what was happening to our country. That, and a bunch of life-long non-participants who have been scared or fanaticised into action. Remember calling them sheeple?  Well, these particular sheeple are now stampeding the fucking cliff, and taking our party and country with them.

Since their arrival these folks have transformed the site. What was once a site united behind the single idea of helping elect a DEMOCRAT is now a fucking mess. The founder who swore he wouldn't endorse has turned the entire site over to one candidate. I guess as long as he doesn't give them his children it won't count as an endorsement. Does anyone actually believe member quality, or diary and comment quality, has improved with the growth of the site?

These newbies are people who have fiiiiiinally realized (Damn they sure took their time!) that they and the most of the rest of the nation were horribly wrong in their goose-stepping W sticker wearing, and their idiot car magnet frenzies. These neo-activists have just recently caught on to the truths we've been screaming here for years. Unfortunately, like newborns oblivious to life before their own births, the fact that Bush was never the one they should have wanted to have a beer with is not just new to them, but just plain new. They alone discovered the truth about Bush. Armed with this exclusive, new knowledge they feel it is their sole responsibility and right to choose our next leader. Those of us who were years ahead of them, shouting the truth at them, were never heard. They still don't know what all our noise was about. The discovery was theirs and the matter is now in their fresh green hands to stay. Kos' new numbers are nice in some ways, but will they do us any real good, or will our movements current distraction from our longtime goal OF ELECTING A DEMOCRAT be our ruin?

These newly created political heavyweight would-bes have now met up with their natural counter-parts, the heavily vested professional-type  grown-ups who are all too happy to do their heavy bidding for them. These spider-like politicos-in-wait will now attempt to reap the harvest of their newly adopted, anger-ignorance based movement. One of the could-have-been predicted results of this collision of new kid and old slickster is that we're seeing sites like this becoming one big fucking hate-filled shit-slinging dumb-fuck fest with too many people defending a candidate they don't even know. One who hadn't even been heard of by most until just last summer. And one who few know more about than that he's black, smart, and cute. None very good reasons to elect as President.

So how is it that a basically unknown black man with a name like BARACK OBAMA finds his way to the top of the Democratic party ticket, even in RednecksRus Township, Utah and No-Blacks-Allowed-Before-1978, Idaho? Huh?

We need to first consider the oh so important fact that people are far too much like sheep. WE ARE LIKE SHEEP! Everyone knows this to be true, but no one seems to consider this enormous truth about our frail nature until AFTER we have all fucked up real bad. Then we tend to separate ourselves from the gang and talk about how everyone else screwed up. Today only about half as many admit to having voted for Bush as the actual number. Where'd the missing millions of voters go?

At this time during the election year of 1999 I was very confused. How in the hell did George W Bastard find himself on the GOP ticket? What the fuck was THIS shit all about? W had been a goof ass all of his life. A fucking rich man's loser. Kicked out of the Army after cheating to get in to avoid Viet Nam, failed in business repeatedly, used cocaine, drank like two alcoholics, and had an IQ that made me proud of my brother Heinerich, the shirt hanger at Goodwill. Were they serious about him? I was worried that they were.

Then when I first saw Bush doing the fake Texas cowboy, Ronald Reagan-like  good old boy routine I realized what they were doing, and that they were serious. And that we were in deep shit. The rest of the country, including many who frequent this site today, were saying how they thought he'd be so nice to sit down and have a beer with, or some other such dumb shit. I cried openly the day he stole the election. My pain grew with every ignorant fuck Bush supporter I met, with every bullshit patriotic song I heard my grandkids play, and with every "man of God" I heard praise the psychopathic bastard.

I had the same thoughts when 9-11 happened. I called a buddy and told him the Reichstag had just been burned again. He laughed. I told him the twin towers attack would mean long war, and likely several of them. He laughed again. I explained how fascists use tragedy to amass power! He said I was paranoid. He couldn't think of another time in 35 years that I had ever before shown paranoid tendencies, but it still had to be paranoia. I felt so alone in my wisdom. If only I enjoyed drinking.

When the rest of the country was buying Bush's shit about getting Bin Laden and how we would stand together rah rah rah... I was falling into a deep depression, not knowing how or when this nutcase bastard and his oil buddy Dick Cheney, (who I knew was evil from his first and second trips through the White House in the 1970's) would wreck our nation and world. All I thought about at the time was how one man (me) might warn the country about the mistake it was making. How can I help wake these oblivious sheep, I wondered.

All the Rethugs had to do is help separate us

I feel the same way again today. My favorite website, including it's founder, has flipped out. The stress has made mush of too many brains, and few seem able to see what's standing right there in front of them. They say Karl Rove is genius. they say he's a master mind. He is neither. He is simply able to see what's right there in front of him. We see having a large black constituency as a tremendous boon to our party. Karl sees that this also has the potential for being a party killer. Having a black group in our party is a little like getting a pay raise at work. We could do OK with $400 a week, but if you give us $600 we'll very quickly (and happily) grow dependent on that much income, making it nearly impossible for us to live with the $400 we made previously. We make do with what we can. It's the same with voters. All the Rethugs had to do is help separate the majority of Dems from their black friends. All they had to do was take away the extra pay black Americans meant to our party.
Now we're as good as bankrupt.

Just how could they do that you ask? By covertly lending support to a normally unelectable black candidate, promoting him from token candidate to real (particularly in the minds of his excitable base, our newbies), and then sitting back to watch as the Democratic party rips itself open right down racial lines.

And how do they accomplish this? They start by not playing the "Obama did COCAINE" story into the dirt the way they did the "Clinton didn't inhale" story. Can people not see that Cocaine use is a much more serious and juicier story than a smoking pot story, and that we've heard suspiciously little about it? WHY? They have also let slide, for the moment anyways, the fact that his experience is far from what is ordinarily considered enough. Their media people even claim to like him, giving him as easy a time as any Democrat has had since JFK the day AFTER he was shot.
He's getting THEIR endorsements like leaves falling from a tree, and STILL nobody really knows him. It's starting to look like a mean fraternity trick being pulled on some sweet kid who the gang will beat up and run off as soon as they've made a big enough fool of him. They're making him think they want him to join, and he's the only one there who doesn't know they actually hate him. It's a scene that would make us cry if it were properly done in some movie. It's also a true to life a scene that will make me cry if it works for the Republicans this year.

And then they have party Republicans vote for OBAMA in our dumb ass open primaries, making him appear electable. (knowing he wouldn't normally appear so) Do smart people here on Dkos actually believe that so many fewer Rethugs are voting in this years' primaries when they all know that a Democratic victory will mean an increase in their taxes and an end to their war profits?? REALLY, do you believe that crap?? FUCK NO, those greedy ass bastards didn't stay home, they were voting for Barack and against Hillary in our stupid shit open primaries!!! We ALLOW THEM to vote for IN OUR PRIMARIES so THEY can decide who WE choose for our nominee!! And we fail to factor them into our thinking and take all the numbers at face value!! DUHHH??? And we are expected to believe that America has suddenly been healed, that the greedy war mongering social security hating racist bastards have all changed. I must have slept through the second fucking coming! JUST LAST WEEK the sons of bitches were STILL voting against sending economic stimulus checks to disabled vets and the poor elderly!! I mean wake the fuck up finally! Shit!

Obama said so himself

"I am confident I will get her votes if I'm the nominee," Obama stressed. "It's not clear she would get the votes I got if she were the nominee."

(Can one get any more divisive than that?)
Making the Democratic nomination race close by helping Obama get delegates in OUR open primaries has made his many idealistic and strong-willed supporters feel very confident that he MUST MUST MUST win. Many feel that it is already his. If "that bitch" Hillary wins they'll be too angry, and absolutely too certain they've been cheated to even think about voting for Hillary. Obama said so himself when he suggested his supporters wouldn't vote for Hillary. Obama said so himself!!!! HELLO! This admission was a serious mistake on his part because such an acknowledgment illuminates and illustrates all too well the fact that our party has been divided in a very dangerous way.

What all this means is, The black vote has been taken from the Democratic party, unless Obama is nominated. It's that fucking simple.

If Obama IS nominated, the many Rethugs who voted for him and donated to him in the OPEN primaries WILL NOT be there for him in the general. They were never really voting or supporting him in the first place, they were simply voting to split our party. The big turnout for Obama was skewed with Rethug votes and rethug media support.

For the Republicans, considering the public mood against them, putting time and money into helping Obama gain votes(to split our party) made more sense than anything they might do in support of any of their own candidates because allowing us to present a united party would mean certain death to ANYONE they nominate. They had to divide us first and at any cost

With Obama as our nominee the media will again show it's true nature as a pro-Republican, anti-Democrat machine,(I mean the fucking rich still own the media, don't they?) and we'll then hear and see every damned thing they have on Obama, ad nauseum, PLUS whatever they decide to make up about him. The race card will both covertly and overtly rule the day. The lack of experience card, and whatever legitimate else they find to focus on, will give whites the politically correct excuses they need to justify not voting for Barack Obama. Obama loses.

If Hillary wins the nomination she will have to run against McCain without the usual amount of black support the Democratic nominee normally has. Blacks stay home mad. Hillary loses.

A deal has to be made

Either way, we are fucked unless a deal can be made. The only way we can now win is if Hillary and Obama can come up with a deal making one of them President and the other Vice. From my perspective, and because of racial and other Obama problems, it will have to be a Clinton/Obama ticket. An Obama/Clinton ticket may have some chance, but it doesn't look so good to me.
