Dear Hillary: I told you so

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 08:11:07 AM PDT

Dear Hillary:

Did you hear Obama's speeches? He's not shy about the part with "a war that never should have been authorized in the first place".
He's talking about you.

I wrote you this letter 2005. Oddly, you didn't answer.

Dear Hillary:
Democrats were cowards to authorize force in Iraq in the first place.

Trying to preserve his career by appearing tough, Kerry blew his career (and MY Supreme Court, damn him) by authorizing force in Iraq.

Now, trying to appear tough, you are a lead hawk.

Leave the hawkishness to the republicans.  Or, please do not run for president.

and continued

Perhaps you are too young to remember the period from 1965-70 where America's politicians, one by one, with fear and trepidation and focus groups, oh so gingerly crawled toward admitting that maybe Vietnam was not the best war we ever fought?
Do we again have to watch this level of cowardice and mealy-mouthedness?  Or will somebody (perhaps a Senator) dare to speak the truth:
Pre-war lies are impeachable
Our troops are not doing any good by staying
Immediate withdrawal is the best of several terrible courses of action

The one who takes a stand in 2005 becomes the powerful candidate in 2008.

We agreed on one thing: your career was on the line.
I told you the way to save it was to stand up and be brave.
You thought the way to save it was to try to hide in the crowd.

How much did you pay the consultants whose advice was to weasel on this one?
I gave better advice. Shall I send the bill to your campaign office while it's still open?  Please pay it promptly so I can contribute to the Obama campaign. We have a couple big states coming up.
