Feeling Irrelevant in Ohio!

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 06:45:19 AM PDT

I did something this morning that added me to the growing ranks of Democrats who have been deemed irrelevant by the Clinton campaign.

I voted for Barack Obama in Ohio today.

Here's how it happened...

I received my absentee ballot from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections over the weekend. This morning, I got up a bit earlier than usual, and went about the business of voting. On the ballot, Barack Obama's name is tops on the list of presidential candidates, followed by Clinton, Edwards, and Kucinich. I double-checked the bright yellow flyer enclosed in the package warning me that a vote for Kucinich would not be counted. Good!

With utmost care, I went about darkening the oval next to Obama's name. I then went through the rest of the ballot, voting both sides on all the races and issues. Fortunately, this ballot was quite short, and I was done within 15 minutes. I then put the ballot into the identification envelope, filled in all required information to establish my identity, signed the envelope, and sealed it. I was ready to slap on a stamp when I noticed that the return envelope was already postage-paid. Talk about having it easy!

As I left for work, I stopped by a mailbox on my street and dropped the the ballot into the receptacle.

And, with that seemingly innocuous action, I joined the ranks of Democratic voters all across this country who have been blatantly making themselves irrelevant by having the audacity to vote for hope and for change.

Over the weekend, I signed up to make calls for Obama here in Ohio. I can report that his grassroots activity is heating up here by the day. Volunteers in the Cleveland area are making calls and hitting the streets from house to house.

If you are in Ohio, endeavor to vote early either by requesting an absentee ballot or voting at the board of elections. Then consider volunteering for Obama from now till the primary. Go to BarackObama.com to sign up. Start with friends and family. If you don't have time, send him a check or contribute on his website. Obama can't win Ohio unless we help him do it.

Folks! I think it's time for us all to declare our irrelevance! Let's breach this ridiculous "firewall" Hillary is trying to put up here in Ohio. Let's add Ohio to the growing list of states deemed irrelevant by the Clinton campaign.

I'm Fired Up! Are You?
