One of the headlines currently up on MSN.com is one that reads "Pannel Raps U.S. on WMDs." Um, last time I checked the entire country was no complicit in the botched handling of intelligence. The intelligence communinity did that and eventually the buck should stop at the President's desk, who after all is the
chief executive. But no instead of saying, "Pannel raps Bush's CIA" or "Pannel raps Bush Administration" or even a tamer "Pannel slams US Intelligence Community," we get a headline that insults the entire coutry. Furthermore, the
actual article with a headline of "Bush Pannel rips US Intelligence Abilities: President says he shares central conclusions" seems to imply its Bush who is the hero here, bravely going out and fixing the intelligence community. THe article does not discuss how the report does not discuss how the one-sided intelligence estimates most likely resulted from pressure from the top and not the bottom.
Lastly, the article buries the real story at its very end and veils it as nothing more than a partisan attack:
In an implicit swipe at the Bush administration, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said the report did not review how federal policy-makers used the intelligence they were given.
The Right Wing Corporate Media is really starting to tick me off. This post is not meant to be eloquent, I'm just really really ticked off. The Bush defenders in the media charge us with being unpatriotic and hear they are smearing our entire country.
