Obviously the SCLM drives us all (and by all, I mean Kos readers) crazy. We've had it. We all want more HONESTLY liberal media. As a member of the advertising community (I currently sell underwriting spots for a PBS/NPR affiliate -- and no, PBS and NPR do not qualify as liberal) I'm here to tell you that the one thing that will grow the kind of viewing and listening options we want is ... viewers and listeners.

Instead of talking about the Daily Show and Countdown and passing links for later viewing, sit down and watch the shows every day (tape/dvr them if the time slot doesn't work for you). Watch the advertisers. Then buy what the advertisers are selling. Then call the advertisers and tell them you bought from them because they advertised on a show you care about. Drive up viewership totals and ad revenue on these two programs and you'll see a.) more clout for them at their respective networks and b.) more shows like them on your television.
If your satellite/cable system carries NewsWorld International, watch that. Remember, Al Gore owns a chunk of it. As far as radio goes, Air America is pretty much all we have, but it's a great place to start. Remember, Limbaugh started with a very small audience and if the RNC hadn't propped him up financially for about a decade he never would have taken hold. If you have an Air America affiliate on your local air tune it in, never change the station and then go buy the local products advertised on it. As above, tell the advertisers you're buying BECAUSE they sponsor Air America.
If you don't have an Air America affiliate, make a list of the advertisers on your local talk stations (even the freeper shows) and call those advertisers and let them know you would love to buy their products if they advertised on an Air America affiliate. Then call every talk station on your local airwaves and tell them you have sponsors who would love to sponsor Air America if it were only available.
For that matter, if you are a businessperson, call your local talk stations and tell them you'd love to advertise on an Air America affiliate.
Real, measurable viewership and listenership combined with ad revenue are what will grow liberal media in this country. Buzz on web sites is nice, but it doesn't pay the bills, and it won't affect change on your television and radio. But you CAN affect that change if you follow the above instuctions.
