The recent coverage of Democratic planks is due mainly to the candidates remaining in the race. If everyone but Kerry drops out, the media will again veer right. As it is, they are off balance and are actually reporting (some) items of interest.
I don't think we'd be seeing nearly as much coverage of Bush's Guard duty problem, the cronyism in Iraq, the issue of credibility vis-a-vis WMD (past or future credibility), the jobless "recovery", and other reports that trend negative for Bush if it weren't for Clark, Dean, and Kucinich remaining in as long as they have.
I wish Clark had not dropped out, but it's not surprising.
