The candidates answer on global warming

We deserve a President who stands with us on the central environmental issue of this election: global warming. That is especially true in the wake of the Bush administration's actions to deny states a waiver to follow California's tough global warming standards.

Following up on last week's post, the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) has compiled all of the presidential candidates' positions on California's landmark global warming strategy, which has set a standard that other states are following.

CLCV asked all the remaining Presidential candidates to respond to four simple questions about global warming -- and you probably won't be surprised at who answered.

The questions we asked focused on the central environmental issue for California voters in this campaign:  Will the next President join California's fight against global warming—or continue standing in the way?

To reduce any suspense that may be raising your blood pressure the day before 22 states weigh in on the presidential race, Senators Obama and Clinton answered our questions. The rest of the presidential candidates remaining in the race did not.
