now - where Obama needs to go

I didn't say it before Super Tuesday, but I was squeamish about Obamamania. There needs to be fewer endorsers in the press, less emphasis on the giddy support, and more clarity about his positions.

On his positions Obama needs to emphasize his thriftiness. His promises will not come with huge price tags, or they will go back to the drawing board. People worry that dreams are expensive.

He needs to totally focus on domestic issues - the economy and very practical down-to-earth solutions. The broad brush is scary.

He is already seen as exotic by many voters. In fact he is. His life story takes the average rags to riches narrative and adds amazing twists and turns. I think this gives him cred on foreign policy and "world view."

So that means focus on hearth and home.

A lot of people want to help - but they are not the candidate. So many "helpers" make him look weak. The work needs to be done behind the scenes.

He needs to get a bit negative on HRC over illegal immigration. She does not have a strong position and appears to want it both ways. That is not an option in this 2 person campaign. When I heard Obama was one of two Senators to march in the big marches of a year or so ago - I was stunned. Because I had no idea. How can Latinos not support this? He is not winning the Minute Man vote so he should make this a stronger plank in his platform.

On January 20 I wrote a similar advice column and it made me feel better.

I know that Obama has done as well as he could expect. But until there is a clear winner I am going to be thinking about how his candidacy can do better.
