Call to Action: Obama campaign needs our help RIGHT NOW
Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 03:46:42 PM PDT
Last night I was on a conference call with the National Call Team from the Obama campaign to review nationwide phonebanking strategy for the next few days. Durng the call, the campaign expressed an urgent need for calls to be made into Louisiana and Washington, which are holding caucuses and primaries tomorrow (Saturday, February 9).
Among others, we heard from the State Director in LA, who is particularly concerned that, given all of the hype surrounding Super Tuesday, many dems are not even aware that there is a primary in the state tomorrow. The campaign has a great presence in the state but needs increased levels of phonebanking to boost awareness and GOTV.
On Wednesday, all stripes of Obama supporters, calling from the comfort of their homes or offices -- and some in their jammies -- made 10,000 phone calls into these two states. Yesterday, they racked up another 12,000. Today and tomorrow are crucial to these contests and I'd like to challenge our merry band of kossacks to make 15,000 phone calls for the campaign today and tonight. If just 1000 Obama supporters on DailyKos were to each make just fifteen phone calls -- that's less than an hour's worth of work -- we could knock this off lickety-split.
In order to begin calling, just go to the campaign's state-of-the art online calling tool.
You get twenty names at a time, an outline of scripts for your particular state and more. You can easily open the backgrounder and issues pages simultaenously to have all the information you need at your fingertips.
It's easy and it's fun, and it WILL make the difference we need NOW.
Also, if you speak Spanish, you can call Spanish-speaking voters in Washington by linking to the Spanish-language phonebanking tool on the bottom right-hand side of the same page.
Obama supporters maintain a critical mass on DailyKos and we have the opportunity to make huge a contribution via online phonebanking over the next few weeks, as the number and schedule of contests allows the campaign's and our efforts to be more focused and protracted.
Make some calls now, please, and comment below to let us know that you are on board, and to share your experiences and encourage others to join our effort tonight.
Update: It looks like the campaign is satisfied with their efforts in Washington, except for Spanish speakers, but has added Maine and Nebraska to the critical list for tonight. And don't forget to use the difference in time zones to our advantage, especially if you are on the East Coast. It give us "extra" time to call into LA, NE and WA :)
Yes. We. Can.
Si. Se. Puede.
