Iowa Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin has vanquished four sitting congressmen vying for his seat. Rep. Steve King decided he didn't want to be the fifth.

U.S. Rep. Steve King announced Friday he will seek re-election to his House seat in western Iowa, finally putting to rest speculation that the Kiron Republican would mount a Senate challenge this year [...]

King had been viewed as a possible opponent for Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., who faces re-election this year, and King for months did not rule out a bid.

But he opted to seek re-election to the House seat, leaving two other Republicans, Steve Rathje of Cedar Rapids and former state Rep. George Eichhorn of Stratford, vying for the GOP nomination for Senate.

Not that Harkin was ever in much trouble, but it would've been nice to open up a new House seat. Not to mention the doofus who said last week:

An Iowa Republican congressman said Friday that terrorists would be "dancing in the streets" if Democratic candidate Barack Obama were to win the presidency.

Rep. Steve King based his prediction on Obama's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.

"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida ... would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror," King said in an interview with the Daily Reporter in Spencer.

King said his comments were not meant to demean Obama but to warn how an Obama presidency would look to the world.

"His middle name does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that."

Fear not, King will be a leader on the War On Dancing In The Streets from his perch in the House.

Update: King's next target:
