McCain Preacher: US Gov = KKK

In several comments, I have asked the question: "Do Americans really want to have their preacher's sermons become part of the national political discourse?"  I'm not sure that they do.  Catholics would be in a heap of hot-water over the whole molestation scandal (The Pope has repeatedly blamed homosexuality).  Conservative religious members could have their preachers calls to bring about the end of abortion with violence used against them.

And John McCain could have the statements of his preachers parsed.  Apparently, Sam Stein over at Huffpo is doing just that.

The player in the article is Reverend Rod Parsley, a white preacher, at the World Harvest Church of Columbus, Ohio.  Per the article, Sen. John McCain "hails [Reverend Parsley] as a spiritual adviser."  The gist of the article is that Rev. Parsley has accused the government of 'Black Genocide'.

How is that?  Well, since the government funds abortions, and since black people have more abortions than whites (a charge the article disputes), then the government is engaging killing off black folk.  The key graph?

"Right now our own government is allowing organizations like Planned Parenthood to legally take the innocent lives of precious baby girls and baby boys and even footing the bill for it all with our tax dollars, turning every single one of us into accessories to murder," he says. "You know who their biggest fans must be, that must be the Klu Klux Klan, because the woman who founded this organization detested black people.... African Americans were number one on Margaret Sanger's list. So this 'Lady MacDeath,' as I like to call her, studied the works of Englishman Thomas Robert Malthus, and embraced his plan of eugenics."

Read that again.  He is comparing the US government to the KKK!  Where is the patriotism?  Does McCain believe that the US government is the same as the KKK?  Of course not.

But this does show one thing.  If a white preacher claims that the US government is engaging in 'Black Genocide', then can't we forgive a black preacher when he gets pissed at the US government?  I know I can.
