Pennsylvania Voter Registration Skyrockets

Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 04:41:48 PM PDT

Did everyone see this

Over 200,000 new Democrats in the last ten weeks in Pennsylvania! The pace accelerated substantially the week of March 24.  No word if the final results are reported but Democratic registration increased by about 75,000 that week (from 4,044,000 to 4,119,000).

Incredible.  According to the details in the spreadsheet 45,977 changed to Democrats while 1,808 changed to Republicans, and 33,000 new Democrats registered.

I have no inside word if these are final numbers.

People who know Pennsylvania better than me (sorry, I'm a Virginian), have at the numbers.

UPDATE: I'm pretty busy so someone could do a much more detailed and interesting diary on this subject

UPDATE II: I update these things quickly.  I forgot to put in a note to the superdelegates.  I hope you know who is responsible for this project in Pennsylvania party building!

Other highlights include nearly 10,000 new registrants in Philadelphia (almost 9,000 new Dems). Almost 2,000 in Delaware County. About 4,600 in Allegheny County.

There was a big final week surge in parts of Clinton country too.  Examples include Erie County (+ 830 Dems), Luzerne County (Wilkes-Barre + 1,222 Dems), and Lackawanna County (Scranton + 633 Dems).  Of course Obama foks were organizing up there so hopefully a good number of those will vote for him.  In any case, the Dems look good.
