GBCW: Compatibility Issues

The goal of this community is to elect Democrats, a goal I regrettably no longer share with regard to EVERY elected office. Yes, that's my way of saying the I will NEVER vote for Hillary Clinton to ANY elected office. Her comments to cede the commander-in-chief argument to the Republican nominee, while simultaneously challenging the credentials our party's leading contender left a very bad taste in my mouth. Given McCain's virulent temper and commitment to permanent war, how could she cede the commander-in-chief argument to him? This effectively guarantees that any charge questioning McCain's temperament will come with a pre-approved rebuttal from Hillary Clinton. To make matters worse she questioned Obama's readiness in the same breath. Had this charge not been made in conjunction with an endorsement of McCain's credentials, I wouldn't have had a big problem with it. This is a primary, after all. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that I will NEVER vote for a Democrat who is so willing torch the his or her own party for personal gain.

I didn't always feel this way. I used to believe that Hillary had both an effective argument for the job and would deserve the nomination of this party. I was even misguided enough to say that I'd happily vote for her in the general election. I even defended Bill's dismissal of Obama's South Carolina victory. Although I might have said things in a fit of anger, I don't hate Hillary Clinton in any way. What's not to like about her resume, story and  the way she conquered her personal hell in the 90's? While a lot of you Hillary fans will find a way to rationalize my rantings as those of a closet Hillary-hater or a misogynist, nothing could be further from the truth. She simply gives me no hope that ANYTHING IMPORTANT will change. Not one thing. Not Iraq, not the special interest ownership of party politics.

Will I vote for McCain if Hillary is the nominee? Hell, no! Just because we have a soulless, warmongering triangulator as a nominee, doesn't mean John McCain looks any better. Yes, I recognize that sitting out the election could hurt causes I care dearly about. Even if I were to disregard the long term damage Hillary will do to progressive causes, winning still isn't enough. I need a little more.

Since I'm no longer a partisan Democrat, I bid you adieu. I'm now a Democrat with a 'Hillary exemption'.

Good bye and God bless.
