From the
Washington Blade:
The former chief operating officer of Log Cabin Republicans filed suit in D.C. Superior Court on April 1 accusing the nation's leading gay Republican organization of wrongfully firing him after he discovered what he says were unethical and possibly illegal financial practices.
Dwight Lodge, who served as Log Cabin's COO from January through December 2004, charges in his suit that LCR Executive Director Patrick Guerriero was directly responsible for the alleged financial improprieties. He alleges that Guerriero fired him in retaliation for his decision to raise concerns about the group's finances.

"These practices included but were not limited to: misuse of restricted funds, reclassification of funds and creation of false reports to obtain matching funds, and the reclassification of funds to hide losses incurred by certain programs for the purpose of misleading the board," the lawsuit states.
Craig Engle, an attorney representing Log Cabin, said the lawsuit "is without merit" and that Lodge was "terminated for good cause."
If you think about it, it seems really logical that the LCRs used "creative" financial practices. How else were they going to stay afloat? They refused to endorse GW in 04 - not much Republican money coming in, I'd bet. This problem was compounded by their refusal to endorse the federal marriage amendment and Don't Ask Don't Tell.
Besides, people who really want to endorse those positions aren't going to give their money to places that say things like this:
stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks as Log Cabin works to build our Republican majority by electing fair-minded candidates!
Build their Republican majority by electing fair-minded candidates? This is giving me a migraine.
What the hell planet are these people on?
