don't be so "cerebral"

Now, every time I think I've heard it all, I get a brand new gift from the Gods of Irony.

For several days, we've been carpet-bombed by another Obama "issue". This one relates to his "elitism", as evidenced by "his 'bitter' remarks", to quote the corporate media message.

Well, if that wasn't enough, get a load of this...

The Circle of Jerks on MSNBC's "Race to the White House" (Rachael Maddow excepted, of course), just concurred that Obama's explanation for his remarks is "too cerebral" for the average beer-swilling, church-going, gun-toting, bowling-night joe.

Translation: the average, non-bitter, blue collar citizen in the USA is too stupid to understand what Barack Obama is saying. Obama is the "elitist", apparently because he talks all high-falootin' "cerebral", and the dumbasses who work for a living don't comprehend it.

I would call this hypocrisy, but I don't believe it rises to the level of intelligence required for true hypocrisy. It's more a plain and ironic statement of elitist condescension -- small-town Americans, in the collective opinion of these pundits-for-hire, are basically too ignorant to relate to the elitist Obama -- Obama, who came from a mixed-race, single-parent family, who came up by his own bootstraps, who worked the streets with common man, the elitist. According to them, the rubes in small-town America can't smell what Barack is cookin'.

This has been a Public Service Announcement.
