The Pompous Keith Olbermann

Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 09:33:43 PM PDT

What is happening to Keith Olbermann? In my estimation, the firebrand
pontificator of MSNBC is transmogrifying into a demogogue who, for one
dollar more than he's now being paid, would easily switch over
to Limbaugh's Land of Lost Souls.  Damned shame!

A year or two ago, way back when he was fresh and new, I was loving every minute of Keith Olbermann.
He was marvelous in his denunciation of W., and he seemed fearless. But he has not grown, he has not changed, he knows not nuance and if there is another side to the coin -- he's not the one to notice. And he's become pompous as hell, even a demogogue!
This was so clear tonight with K. O. interviewing Hillary Clinton. I am not here to defend or defame Hillary, but come on -- give the lady a chance. I have no problem with Hillary meeting with the Mellon Scaife board, or with him individually. Why not? They are American citizens and voters; if she wins, she'll be their president as well as ours. She SHOULD hear them out. I quote a famous Harry Truman sentiment: "Anyone in business or in politics cannot afford, unnecessarily, to make enemies or hold grudges." Amen! And for sure Hillary is a politician. I thought her answer on Scaife was clear and fair. I am not so sure about "deathbed conversions," but it does not matter. She's no right wing Republican, even if she postures for votes at times. I am far far more worried, in fact I am very worried, about her comment that she would not hesitate to nuke Iran should they nuke Israel. That is not the right answer by any American president at any time. And talk about hypotheticals! Bad girl, Hillary!
Back to K. O. -- he's a real study. It's almost as if he cannot hear himself. His long complex Latinate sentences, hard enough to follow in written form, so perplexing when spoken. He's become very pompous and finger shaking, and that highly condescending "Sir," dripping with venom when he addresses W., geez! Gimmie a break! There is one side to every question, Keith's. I find him a big fat bore these days but for sure he's onto a good thing for himself and MSNBC -- it's all about money. He same as said so in a recent interview. Too bad. There was a time, Sir, when I could take you seriously; no longer. Be the Rush Limbaugh of "liberal" cable news; see if anyone cares.
