Daily Kos

A+ for Bill Moyers

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 09:18:40 PM PDT

At first I was very worried. I thought it a big mistake
to bring the Rev Mr Wright up again -- and the Friday
evening public television program Washington Week seemed
to second my feelings, one of their commentators saying
it was a political blunder to remind America of it all.
Not only that, Mr Wright is speaking at the National Press
Club Monday. So what is going on?

Here is what I think: It was far from a mistake for Mr Wright
to appear -- and for the whole hour -- on Moyers: I found it a
positive experience and a informative even refreshing
experience. If one took in the whole hour and listened to
what was presented and the ideas as explained, well this one
at least could not help but have admiration for Mr Wright.
He came off as well informed, balanced, kindly, no fool,
and exemplar of good works and good sense in race relations.
He's a pastor and a talented preacher -- he is going to be
abrasive now and then and he's going to seem out of the
mainstream. So what? Look what he is dealing with, and look
what Trinity Church has accomplished over 40-years. Impressive!
Here is something else I think, and I hope KosPosters will
take this in the spirit in which it is intended: Thank God for
Bill Moyers' blogs!! AT LAST -- a non-profane, non-extreme,
idea driven, graceful bunch of postings about the program
just witnessed -- I might even say, Eureka! At last an
alterntaive to Daily.Kos <grin>.  Go visit the land of
Bill Moyers and his blogs. You'll be glad you did!
