Obama's Al Gore Plan

Thu May 15, 2008 at 06:38:41 AM PDT

The John Edwards Endorsement yesterday surprised us all...and, was brilliant!  All the West Virginia hype was forgotten about and all the talking heads were focused on Edwards all night. Today's headlines are all about Edwards.

As one Kossak noted in another diary, it's clear that Obama is a brilliant campaigner and smarter than us. And, that's an awesome change from the last 8 years!

And that brings me to a question:  When is Obama planning to reveal the Al Gore nomination?

Now that Obama has proven to be so clever with stealing Hillary's thunder, I don't doubt for a second that he has Al Gore in the bag and is just waiting for the right moment to announce it.

When will that moment be?  I'm sure Obama will out-smart and out-strategize me, but some possibilities are:

May 21st - The day after the Kentucky/Oregon primaries?
Sure, Obama will have a huge victory in Oregon, but we all know that in Hillaryland only her states matter and she'll be sure to talk about "hard working whites" and pass Oregon off as latte sippers. A Gore endorsement the next day would steal that thunder, but he might want to save the Gore endorsement for when he has no good news of his own to talk about.

June 3rd - The Day after Puerto Rico and Day Of Montana/South Dakota?
Again, Hillary will likely have a win and a Gore endorsement the next day would take away all her headlines.  But if Obama pulled off wins in either Montana or South Dakota, that'd take the coverage of those wins away.

June 4th - The Day after it ALL ends?
An endorsement by Gore now, combined with all of the contests being finished, would perhaps seal the deal and cause Hillary to drop out immediately.

Okay stategists, am I forgetting any possibilities?
