Are You a "Sensitive Progressive?": A Cheney Joke in Response to Huckleberry
Sat May 17, 2008 at 04:18:27 PM PDT
Let's come up with a response to Huckabee. Maybe there is a better way to hit back at these guys that will have a better political result for BO. As we all know, this is politics, and we can't be too thin skinned regarding the words the other side use. Remember, sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you. I agree with that, but the words that have been used over the last two elections have been killing us!
Let's help Obama win some points.
I posted a comment on Open Thread, but thought this might be fun for a diary. It's my first try at it, so forgive me in advance.
We all know people who are "Fence Sitters" when it comes to November. Even some gun owners are not happy about McCain's candidacy. A friend of mine, who shoots and owns guns, thinks McCain is just plain crazy. She is struggling with her decision though of who to vote for...assuming it is Obama vs McCain.
She gets annoyed by all of the "liberal indignation in response to just about everything that is said by the right wing." She agrees that the country is headed in the wrong direction. BUT, she has a hard time imagining herself voting for a Democrat. She thinks we are all too sensitive (remember, she shoots guns!), and she wishes we would, "just lighten up a bit."
She thought Huckabee was stupid, but admitted that she laughed at the joke. She is a very conflicted person as you will note below!
The gun issue to her is HUGE. But, she is a patriot. She is open minded to many things. She loves this country. She thinks the current administration has run us into the ground. And, she wishes the Republicans had a better candidate. That being said, she is still not totally convinced that voting for Obama is a completely bad idea. She thinks he's got something special, but wishes he wasn't so thin skinned (her words). And, she can't stand Hillary.
So, in my friend's honor, I would love to see how this group of sensitive leftys can come up with a good Cheney joke in response to her belief that we all just like to sit and cry about the mean words the Nut Jobs use against us. Hey, we're tough...right? We can do this.
Maybe its crazy to think that sometimes, even when the other side goes WAY over the line, we can play the game a little. Just maybe, a few of the fence sitters out there might get a laugh, and give BO a second look in '08.
Maybe Obama would get wind of this and use one of our suggestions.
So here goes. My wife thinks I am not too funny, so again, forgive me in advance.
I'll start:
When asked about Huckabee's comments to the NRA, Obama could say, "I just spoke to Dick Cheney and he agreed to take Huckabee on his next hunting trip."
Your turn.
