McCain-Gate

There is one candidate who makes a gaffe every couple of weeks showing that he she is unfit to be President of the United States. The candidate then "clarifies" his her position, by saying the opposite of what he/she said before. But somehow, this never becomes a -"gate." It never lasts more than one media cycle. It does not become a character issue, for John McCain.
Thus when McCain says Iran is training al qaeda, and then has to have Lieberman remind him that Sunnis in al qaeda don't get along with Shia in Iran, somehow it never becomes "Iran-Iraq-gate."
Or, when McCain says 100 years of troops in Iraq would be
"fine with me" and then retracts the statement, it never becomes "100-year-gate."
Or, when McCain says he is
"glad to have" Hagee's endorsement, who calls the Catholic Church the "great whore" and contends that Katrina was God's revenge for gays, it never becomes "Hagee-gate."
Or, when McCain says
the Iraq war was all about oil.
Every Mcain mistake is "-gate worthy." Let's call them all "gates" until everyone starts paying attention.
