UPDATED--LA-06: The NRCC Offficially Loses Their Sh*t
Sun May 04, 2008 at 09:27:37 AM PDT
Sunday mornings are always a good time for a little levity. Bear witness, and smile a little bit, as you watch the good folks at the NRCC (the GOP House campaign committee) officially go bonkers:
This should come as a warning shot to Democrats," the NRCC said in a post-election press release. "The elitist behavior of the Democratic front-runner and the liberal and extremist positions that he and his fellow Democrats in Congress have staked their claim to, do not appear to be as salient as they once hoped."
Hat tip to CQ and TPMElectionCentral. Now, you know I did not make this up. I could not possibly create something THAT delusional.
So, the NRCC now wishes you to believe that the story of last night is that Cazayoux only took this seat by three points. In other words, the REPUBLICANS are the big winners last night. Because...y'know...they managed to beat the spread.
This, my friends (TM: John McCain), is how far the Republicans have descended into self-parody.
I can only imagine the press conference:
"Hey, we lost a district we have held for thirty four years. Sure, it was a district that GWB won with 59% of the vote just four short years ago. And...ok...the Democrats did not even bother to field a candidate here in 2006.
But, we won because it could have been a lot worse!!"
Go forth and donate to Travis Childers. Because if we win that seat as well, I can only imagine the comedy gold that will emanate from the Republican committees then.
Update: Much thanks to Bawbie in the comments, who found a link to the NRCC presser in its entirety.
