A Basic Lesson in the English Language

Barack Obama has suggested in reference to John McCain, that "he has lost his bearings."

Attention all of you "uneducated, working class whites" in the national media!

When one plots a course, one takes one's bearings.  Bearings refers to the direction of travel set out to reach a destination.  When John McCain promised to conduct a civil and policy based campaign, he was "setting his bearings" for the election.

When he then repeatedly referred to some Hamas spokesperson as having "endorsed Obama", this was a side track.  It was off course.  He was lost.  He had lost his bearings.

Will those who now claim to be "reporting" on the campaign, please secure a copy of Roget's?  It is important to understand the meaning of words if you plan to make words the basis of your commentary.

Geezzz...

Just an over-educated, Lib'rul, Latte drinking, feminist here.  An elitist who thinks language is lovely and the careful use of words is the mark of the educated citizen.

Clearly this is not a criterion to be applied to media.  And, clearly this linguistic deficiency is to be relied on by campaign operatives, who will tweak your ignorance to create scandal where none exists.

Senator Obama was not talking about Sen. McCain's age, or his mental competence, you twits.  He was talking about his duplicity, a topic which seems to have escaped your notice.  He was talking about McCain's stated intent to conduct a campaign on the issues.  Snide references to Hamas and Obama are neither high minded, nor do they address any issue.

Instead of noting that McCain is off his promised course and needs to chart another, you buy the McCain/Liberman shoveled substance wholesale, and report it as a question of Obama's linguistic intent.

They are making fools of you, and you keep saying, "Yes, Sir.  How high?"
