Joe Lieberman's Reply to Mort Snerd on Hagee and Isreal
Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 04:55:41 PM PDT
So I logged onto Sen. Lieberman's website the other day, and identified myself as a citizen of CT. Well, OK, so I fibbed a little bit, but doing so tends to get past the walls on some Congressional web sites.
I posted a pretty damning indictment of Sen. Lieberman, especially his hypocrisy over Hagee, Obama, the whole muslim thing.
I used an existing throwaway hotmail account I maintain for such stuff, just in case I get a reply.
Which I did.
See below.
Now don't get me wrong, but reading the response below just caused a little cognitive dissonance, when put in context with the reports that McCain Backer Hagee Says that Hitler Was Fulfilling God's Will. You know. Dealing with those pesky Jews.
I have come to the conclusion that Sen. Joe Lieberman is a deeply, deeply disturbed and mixed up individual.

Dear Mr. Snerd:
Thank you for contacting me regarding Pastor John Hagee.
I believe that Pastor Hagee has made comments that are deeply unacceptable and hurtful. However, I also believe that a person should be judged on the entire span of his or her life's works.
Pastor Hagee has devoted much of his life to fighting anti-Semitism and building bridges between Christians and Jews. The organization that he has helped build, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), is a vital force in supporting the war against terrorism and defending America's ally, Israel.
I will go to the CUFI Summit in July and speak to the people who have come to Washington from all over our country to express their support of America and Israel, based on our shared eternal values and our shared contemporary challenges in the war against terrorism. At that conference, I will also make it clear that it is imperative that our language is always respectful and tolerant of all of our fellow citizens.
Thank you again for sharing your views and concerns with me. I hope you will continue to visit my web site at http://lieberman.senate.gov for updated news about my work on behalf of Connecticut and the nation. Please contact me if you have any additional questions or comments about our work in Congress.
Joseph I. Lieberman
UNITED STATES SENATOR
