A few days ago, President Bush
said that withdrawing our loved ones from Iraq "would make the world more dangerous". And yesterday,
thousands of reasonable American people took to the streets to tell Mr. Bush in one voice: "You are wrong. And so is your war." Over 100,000 people
came together to show their distaste for the war in Iraq. They were joined, in spirit, by thousands of Brits who
held a similar demonstration in London. And the blogosphere is abuzz with conversation from both sides:

their list of Dos and Don'ts, as did luna K

The Right make their jeers and jokes: The Political Teen, Blogs for Bush, and Glenn Reynolds were all over it with some neo-Conservative banter. And Michelle Malkin, who I am growing to dislike almost as much as Ann Coulter, brought pictures with her own "brand" of captions.
But I must say that with all the hype surrounding this Cindy Sheehan led march, the Conservative Blogosphere was ill represented, and their coverage was nothing more than slanderous.
The left, on the other hand, rose to the challenge in cyberspace. C&L was on top of it, as was HuffPo. The Brad Blog and David Swanson have the goods. But that is only where it starts. I am sure that many liberal bloggers were actually there, so we can expect to see a good amount over coverage tomorrow. I will let you know.
As for the Protest, and Cindy Sheehan, I can say that I am in support of what they are doing. Having a loved one in Iraq makes it easy for me to hate the war out of sheer passion, but I believe that for me there is more to it than that. We as a country were lied to by the Bush Administration. And no matter what their original intentions are for starting this war, we can all now see that there is no foreseeable happy ending for Iraq, no light at the end of the tunnel. The Iraqi people are plagued by their own traditions of hatred and civil unrest. Yes, I am sure they are glad that Saddam Hussein is out of the way, but will that stop their culture from imploding? I think not.
Spreading democracy is one thing, but inflicting democracy on the unwilling is a whole different thing entirely. And the most upsetting part is that it has cost thousands of American lives in order to inflict that democracy. It is time, Mr. President, to end what you started. You started it for all the wrong reasons, with all the false promises. Now the American people are asking you for one promise... Bring our loved ones home, for all the right reasons...
