Paul Hackett was willing to give his life for the freedom Jean Schmidt bathes in.
I'm sure she is willing to do the same.
Yep, Jean Schmidt is probably thinking right now that she must add joining the military and getting to Iraq to her to-do list. Or at the very least, the ones she's compiled for her maid and groundskeeper.
Jean Schmidt is another of those flag-on-the-lapel-wearing, yellow 'support our troops' bumpersticker on the SUV, 'values-laden' patriots.
The ones 'we' have so much to learn from.
Yes, those who have nary a clue what it is like for anyone currently in Iraq, soldier or citizen, and really don't think about it much as long as the 'accomplished mission' doesn't impinge on their lifestyle or call for any sacrifice, regardless of how trivial.
After all, isn't waiting in line longer at the airport enough of an irritant?
Paul Hackett lives his values, ones that any non-partisan, honest individual can admire.
Jean Schmidt exhibits what is most important to her. Dishonoring a veteran's service to his country is Job One although it barely squeezes out being bought and paid for by pharmaceutical lobbyists.
Maybe Jean Schmidt's victory over Paul Hackett is a bittersweet one, another instance of the voters in her district stating 'yes, she's a bastard but she's our bastard.'
But I ask any and all, who do you want your children to emulate? Schmidt or Hackett?
I thought so.
