James Dobson: Who's a Bigger Fruitcake?

Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 04:08:01 PM PDT

As well all know by now James Dobson lashed out at Barack Obama for "distorting the Bible"" in a desperate attempt to get attention. And in a moment of Ned Flanders-like pique labeled Barack Obama a "Fruitcake".

Darn Diddley Yarn! Fruitcake ... them is fighting words! OK, fighting words from a 50s Sitcom, but Fighting Words nonetheless! With such strong language I am sure that James Dobson has never written or said anything at all that might cause people to compare him to everyone's least favorite Holiday gift, right?

Erm, No. Apparently James Dobson forgot (as most Republicans forget) we know have this thing called The Google.

James Dobson on Stem Cell Research:

"[P]eople talk about the potential for good that can come from destroying these little embryos and how we might be able to solve the problem of juvenile diabetes. There's no indication yet that they're gonna do that, but people say that, or spinal cord injuries or such things. But I have to ask this question: In World War II, the Nazis experimented on human beings in horrible ways in the concentration camps, and I imagine, if you wanted to take the time to read about it, there would have been some discoveries there that benefited mankind.

James Dobson on Child Discipline:

"[P]ain is a marvelous purifier. . . It is not necessary to beat the child into submission; a little bit of pain goes a long way for a young child. However, the spanking should be of sufficient magnitude to cause the child to cry genuinely."'

From Dare to Discipline, pages 6 and 7

"Some strong-willed children absolutely demand to be spanked, and their wishes should be granted. . . [T]wo or three stinging strokes on the legs or buttocks with a switch are usually sufficient to emphasize the point, 'You must obey me.'"

From The Strong-Willed Child, pp. 53-4.

James Dobson on "Liberals":

"Isn't it amazing that there's such a sizable number of people in the media and in the liberal community that despise this country and its freedoms, and they're doing everything they can to undermine it?"

James Dobson on Homosexuals:

"Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage. It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth."

James Dobson on 9/111:

"Christians have made arguments on both sides of this question. I certainly believe that God is displeased with America for its pride and arrogance, for killing 40 million unborn babies, for the universality of profanity and for other forms of immorality. However, rather than trying to forge a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the terrorist attacks and America’s abandonment of biblical principles, which I think is wrong, we need to accept the truth that this nation will suffer in many ways for departing from the principles of righteousness. "The wages of sin is death," as it says in Romans 6, both for individuals and for entire cultures.

James Dobson on ... er, I'm Not Sure:

"[T]he boy's father has to do his part. He needs to mirror and affirm his son's maleness. He can play rough-and-tumble games with his son, in ways that are decidedly different from the games he would play with a little girl. He can help his son learn to throw and catch a ball. He can teach him to pound a square wooden peg into a square hole in a pegboard. He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger."

And after you've taught your Son how to "pound a peg into a hole" and showed him your penis, you can send him to work for Mark Foley. Because, you know, that whole Mark Foley thing was ... Haha ...JUST A PRANK!

The Mark Foley affair has "turned out to be what some people are now saying was a -- sort of a joke by the boy and some of the other pages" who came forward with sexually explicit instant messages that Foley sent.

So we can obviously see that James Dobson is not a Fruitcake.

He is in fact a dangerous and quite possibly delusional Fruitcake with Sadomasochist Overtones.
