Hey, Safe Blue States--Adopt a Swing State!!

I live in gorgeous, wonderful, deep Blue Hawaii. Obama is ahead by a country mile here, and he's going to win easily. We have no Senate race or Governor's race, and our two Democratic reps in Congress are very safe. In short, Hawaii is not really much of a player in this year's election. But I know how Hawaii, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, and other hardcore blue states can be a factor:

ADOPT A SWING STATE!!

What do I mean by that? Jump with me, won't you?

Hawaii's Democratic Party members can (and should) rustle up a couple of million dollars in contributions easily. And while many Hawaiians have kicked in, giving to both Obama directly and the DNC, why not target contributions? Why not have Hawaii Democrats send $2,000,000 to the Ohio Democratic Party? For that matter, why not have $3,000,000 from Massachusetts be targeted for Pennsylvania specifically? How about $1,000,000 from Rhode Island going to Virginia, $1,000,000 from Vermont going to Missouri, $4,000,000 from New York pouring into Michigan?

A gimmick? Sure, but it might be something to fire up Democratic contributors in Blue states who might otherwise be complacent. If such contributors knew that their money was targeted on the states that will swing the decision this year, they might be surprisingly generous.
