It's like a dream come true...

Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 05:02:34 PM PDT

Obama has taken command:

"Senator Obama appreciates the hard work that Chairman Dean has done to grow our party at the grassroots level and looks forward to working with him as the chairman of the Democratic Party as we go forward."

Mr. Obama is announcing today that the D.N.C. will no longer accept contributions from federal lobbyists or political action committees, which follows the rules he established for his own campaign last year.

And, a direct quote:

"The next time you hear from me about the vice presidential process will be when I’ve selected a vice president and when you hear secondhand accounts, rumors, gossip about the selection process you can take it from me that it is wrong because we are not going to be talking about it in the press."

For me, this displays something much more important than "experience:"
Leadership.
Senator Obama appears to know exactly what matters, and what doesn't. He has been just gracious enough to Senator Clinton, for example: he hasn't made a fuss about her delayed concession, because he knows that politeness is the best strategy with her supporters. He told off Joe Leiberman on the Senate floor because he could, and because Joe doesn't have any supporters.

It's such a delight to see a true leader emerge from the primaries, and take a firm hold on the party.

I have a confession to make:
I married a Russian woman in 2001. Of course, I had to tell her a great many things about our country; one of the things I told her is, "We will not see an African-American President in our lifetime."
I believe that -- if we all do our part, and work hard -- I am about to be proven wrong.
Thank you, Senator.
