Once again, John McCain is avoiding being seen in public with George Bush:

Sen. John McCain(R-Ariz.)will not attend President Bush’s fundraising dinner for congressional candidates in another indication that the GOP nominee is distancing himself from the man he wants to replace.

It's hard to believe that it's only been three months since McCain, while at the White House to receive the official blessing to carry out Bush’s third term, said:

I intend to have as much possible campaigning events together, as it is in keeping with the President's heavy schedule...I hope that he will campaign for me as much as is keeping with his busy schedule...I'm pleased to have him as is -- as it fits into his busy schedule.

But now it seems that McCain’s busy schedule is the problem, because on the night of Bush’s fundraising dinner, McCain will be campaigning in Texas.  And speaking of Texas, here’s something else McCain said on the day he cited Bush’s schedule...three times:

Q And Senator McCain, where would you like the President to campaign with you?  [...]

SENATOR McCAIN: Wolf, could I say -- one state springs to mind: Texas. (Laughter.)

Or not.

To be fair, McCain hasn’t avoided being seen with Bush completely.  There was this public event last month:
