The Unknowable Barack Obama

A common narrative that has been put out there in media and with right wing (sometimes left wing) spin is that Barack Obama is an unknown entity that cannot be trusted with the White House because nobody knows what he's about.  That he he is a chimera in which no one can know his true motives or true feelings on matters of importance.  The flip flopper meme is one such frame that produces the sterotype of the Unknowable Barack Obama as well as the 'confusion' about his past as well as fear about his charisma as if he wants to become the overlord of the world.

But the fact that people claim that Barack is unknowable is laughable.

He is the author of two autobiographical books and is the subject of a couple of comprehensive biographies.

He has articles about himself and his accomplishment going way back to 1990 after becoming the first black Harvard Law Review President to today.  We are talking articles talking about his beliefs on race in America, his stances on a myraid of policy issues, as well as his involvement in Project Vote in which he spearheaded 150,000 unregistered black voters and turned the tide of the election in favor of Bill Clinton in Illinios.  Hell, you can even look at civil rights cases he was involved in.

You have his Senate voting record and his Illinois Senate record.

A man who has literally thousands of articles, a number of books, and a video record is somehow an unknown quanitity?

I don't buy it.  Especially when even outside sources all say the same thing about him in that he is a concilator as well as someone who idealistic but has a mean pragmatic streak.  That he is someone who is ambitious but also someone who seems as if he is committed to his goals. That he is someone who smart enough to know when to hold them and when to fold them.  

Barack Obama is not the unknown no matter how the media or his opponents want to spin him.  There is a great deal of consistancy in his stances.  

Obama is many things, but unknowable is not one of them.
