In Today's LA Times there's an opinion piece by California Senator Dianne Feinstein.
In it she says that President Bush's policy of preemptive strike is wrong.
Wow.
Now, I've been more a Boxer fan these past 6 years due to the fact that Feinstein seems to cave to the Right at EVERY Turn. Maybe the winds are blowing in a different direction.

Two good points in the article. Worth repeating.
A view of preemption:
"First, it demands that our intelligence be right -- every time. This is difficult, if not impossible, in the shadowy world of terrorism and WMD. As we've seen in Iraq, intelligence not only can be wrong, it can be manipulated."
Finally a prominent Democrat is saying that we need to be Right when we make judgment about War, not just passionate.
and this about joining the nuclear club:
"Second, the doctrine of preemption may lead to a less stable world in general -- especially if our adversaries believe they are safe from preemptive action only if they possess nuclear weapons. Iran has no doubt noted the difference in our dealings with North Korea, which possesses nuclear weapons, and Iraq, which the administration believed was still developing them. So the administration may have encouraged the very proliferation it is seeking to prevent."
Thanks, Senator Feinstein.
*Update:* Points from the comments below.
1.) Please keep in mind that any criticism of PResident Bush's insane and inane policies will be met with anger and derision from the right, so regardless of tone, Senator Feinstein IS inviting attacks from the Republicans.
2.)I suspect that she's trying to win MY vote. I say that as someone who told her via E-mail in 2002 when the authorized the last preemptive war, that I would not vote for her again unless I had no choice. She might be trying to show those of us who are critical thinkers that she is one too.
