Some of you might have seen the "Frontline" documentary last night, "Is Wal-Mart Good for America?" One of the segments focused on Circleville, Ohio, where there used to be a factory that made televisions for RCA. Workers such as the one interviewed used to make as much as $59,000 a year with overtime. But with the influx of cheaper Chinese goods, the plant has shut down and 1,000 people lost their jobs. To add insult to injury, Wal-Mart is putting a supercenter in the shadow of the old television plant.
Here's the probem: Pickaway County, where Circleville sits, still voted for Bush, 62% to 38%.
