the republican "taliking points" re: Mr. and Ms. Schiavo's decsion are discussed. The degree of interference the republicans and the winguts made has been reported everywhere. This denied Ms. Schiavo the dignity to which she was entitled and forced a private matter into the open.

As a traumatic brain injury survivor, I have been following this matter closely. Some information that, to my knowledge, was not covered by MSM follows:
"Difficult decisions, including those involving the discontinuation of life sustaining treatments in person's with terminal illness or no reasonable prospect of regaining consciousness should be consistent w/the governing laws and made with the consul of well-informed professionals....In the event that an individual has not executed an advance directive, the Brain Injury Association of America supports the notion that all decisions should be consistent with the best interest and expressed wished of the individual."

Also, it is worth noting that The Brain Injury Association of Michigan is located in Congressman Mike Rogers' district. Yet, Rogers abstained from the vote re: the legislation that was signed by dubya in the middle of the night.
Rogers possibly hoped that his abstention would satisfy the BIA and others in his district who were opposed to the interference, while, at the same time, satisfy the wingnut republicans and other powers-that-be.
Well, this is written on behalf of many of the registered voters in Mike Rogers' district who are extremely dissatisfied by the fact that he is refusing to do what he was elected to do--that is represent them.
