Leave Her Alone, Or It's Sexism!

We knew it was coming. Complete, utter bullshit.
Female Republicans embraced identity politics with gusto today, touting the virtues of presumptive vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and suggesting that any attempts to question her qualifications amounted to blatant sexism.
Nice, convenient, catch-all excuse. If you say anything bad about poor Sarah Palin, it's sexism, which is most likely a word most Republicans never even considered using until today.
There's more, from the Republican women who roar.
And while the women at the press conference mentioned Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) plenty of times -- "Women of every political party owe a debt of gratitude to Hillary Clinton," Fiorina said -- Blackburn [R-Tenn] made no apologies for the fact that she did not defend the former Democratic presidential candidate from sexist attacks during the primary campaign.
"Had we been more vocal, you all would have chosen not to report it," she said.
The hypocrisy is amazing. Remember Palin?
During the primary Sarah Palin chided Hillary Clinton for complaining about sexism.
"She does herself a disservice to even mention it, really," Palin said. "When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism, or maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, 'Man, that doesn't do us any good, women in politics, or women in general, trying to progress this country,'" Palin said. "I don't think it bodes well for her."
So, "sexism is convenient when it helps Republicans". If Democrats bring it up, it's "whiny" and they should just shut the hell up.
What a switch from the picture Palin's handlers have been painting over the past few days, of the rootin', tootin', moose-killin' frontier girl, Governor Badass who could take on any challenge.
I guess Palin isn't such a "maverick" after all. Listen to the Republicans: she's just a girl, so you'd better not say anything mean!
