Too much focus on what Rather said or what some talking head said on MSCNNGOP. This story is not about today. The election is not tomorrow. Today, Rice will be covered as a neutral.
But that is not the ending of this story. What happens now, and the next weeks will be the story.
My own opinion is that Rice was awful. But she always is. But more importantly is the fact that she is now on the record. Under oath.(No perjury charges of course but the Media treats this type of statement as requiring exact accuracy.) What did she say? Does it make sense? Is it true? Can it be proven not true?
Mostly, it is about the fact that the facts are coming out and most if not all of them are bad for Bush.
Remember, BC (Before Clarke) 9/11 was a huge Bush strength, now a marginal one, if not a tie.
Now Iraq, is a net negative.
Now, the Media is sceptical. They will not go down in flames for BushCo. They have been burned too much. We, the Blogosphere have caught them screwing up too many times. Jon Stewart has made too much fun of them. Imus won't save them now. Stewart makes those decisions now. I think, with the Blogosphere's help, they'll do their job. And if they do that, BushCo is sunk.
So, watch the print Media these next weeks - that'll tell you where this story is going. Not Dan Rather inanities.
