Congress Matters: The Senate, the Founders and seating the elected

Over at Congress Matters yesterday, Kagro X pointed out that all the brouhaha about the "undemocratic" policy that the Senate can be the decider on who can take a seat or not was built into the system by the Founders, since they knew they were the ones most likely to take the seats. Well ... and their legacy beneficiaries in the future, when their descendants took over.
