That's the amount of money we American's have spent just FLYING Bush back and forth from Washingtion DC to Texas.
Air Force One (E-4B) costs $36,773 per hour to fly.
Air Force Reembursable Rates
That is just the cost per hour to be in the air. It doesn't include down time, side trips to, oh say, Utah and Idaho.
We spend at least $154,913 every time Bush decides to vacation in Crawford. Over the last 5 years and 49 trips that is an astounding $7,590,763.
Even allowing that these are "working" vacations (and that's assuming that Bush actually works in Washington)he can "work" lot cheaper in DC.
I just wish I had a fraction of that money for my vacations.
The technical stuff:
1327 miles from DC to Dallas (a place to land)
2654 round trip
$36,773 per hour to fly Air Force One (E-4B)
630 mph for Air Force One Fact Sheet
E-4B
A few other facts:
Air Force One gets 6.87 gallons/mile!
Air Force One has used 893,416 gallons of jet fuel to fly Bush to Crawford over the last 5 years.
No wonder why Bush isn't worried about fuel prices, he just sends the obscenely large tab to us.
That same $7,590,764 could buy 50 humvees built from the ground up ($150,000/humvee) or added armor plating to 131 humvee's already in Iraq($58,000/humvee). There is no doubt that Bush could have personally saved the lives of US soldiers in Iraq if he had just not taken all those vacations.
