SF Chronicle, 14 Oct. 2009:
A man stabbed and bludgeoned his sister and her husband to death in El Cerrito in 2006 because he thought the couple were too liberal, were raising their children wrong and because they hadn't invited him over for Christmas, a prosecutor told jurors Tuesday.
[...]
Wycoff agreed with the prosecutor that he resented members of Paul Rogers' family for their liberal politics, and that he thought the couple were at times "too easy" when they disciplined their children.
Peterson said Wycoff had planned to adopt the couple's three children after he committed the killings.
Welp, I'm sure the freepers are already crying "false flag" attack right about now.
But seriously, this case is fucked up. Read about it more by searching "Edward Wycoff" in Google News. Apparently he had a gun on him when he committed the murder but didn't use it because he didn't want his crime to be seized upon by gun control advocates (I'm fucking serious, read the whole article).
Just to make this diary a bit longer, here's a collection of recently perpetrated, proven and potential, right-wing murderers I've compiled:
Knoxville Unitarian Universalist church shooting (27 Jul. 2008): Jim David Adkisson fires a 12-gauge shotgun at congregant of a Knoxville, TN Unitarian Church and kills two people. According to an affadavit signed by on of the shooter's interviewing officers: "Adkisson stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country."
Assassination of George Tiller (31 May 2009): Anti-abortion "activist" Scott Roeder kills OB-GYN Dr. George Tiller by shooting him at point blank range in the head while he is in church.
Okaloosa County officer killings (25 Apr. 2009): 28-year-old U.S. Army Reserve soldier Joshua Cartwright kills two sheriff's deputies in Crestview, FL after being pursued by law enforcement for allegedly beating up his wife. According to an incident report:
While we were waiting Cartwright told me that her husband believed the U.S. Government was conspiring against him. She said he had been severely disturbed that Barack Obama had been elected President.
Minutemen Murders (30 May 2009): A home invasion in rural Arivaca, AZ leaves a women wounded, her husband dead, and her nine-year old daughter dead. Two of three people later arrested in the investigation are later revealed to have had connections to the anti-immigrant "Minuteman" movement. One of the alleged perptrators, Shawna Forde, is the head of the Minutemen American Defense, an attendee of the Phoenix Tea Party on April 15 who left an impressive trail on the internets of her wingnut activism.
Census Worker's Body Found (12 Sep. 2009): The body of part-time Census worker Bill Sparkman is found in Clay County, KY with the word "fed" scrawled on his chest. The possibility that Sparkman was killed by an anti-government extremist is made more likely by the fact that right-wingers and militia-type groups have been spreading paranoia about the Census ever since Obama was elected.
Pittsburgh police shootings (4 Apr. 2009): 22-year-old white supremacist Richard Poplawski shoots and kills 3 police officers in the Stanton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh. One of his friends will later say that Poplawski feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and another claimed that he thought Obama was going to infringe on his Constitutional rights.
If you have any more examples please post them in the comments.
EDIT: Updated with descriptions of atrocities.
EDIT 2: Here's a previous diary on the right's nasty habit of promoting eliminationist rhetoric.
