She's my senator and I'm not always happy with her because she sometimes is too centrist, but Claire McCaskill is totally right in her slam of Republican critcism of the award of the Nobel Peace Price to Barack Obama. In a post titled, "The Twilight Zone," she talks truth about the Republicans:
I feel that I’m in an alternative universe. For eight years some people called anyone who disagreed with the President’s foreign policy or war in Iraq unpatriotic. Then in the course of two weeks, those same people cheer when the United States does not get selected for the Olympics and boo when our President is the unanimous choice for the Nobel Peace Prize. Go figure.

Congratulations Mr. President for standing up to the scorn and derision of your opponents in the election when you firmly stood for the proposition that strength meant being willing to talk to your enemies, not just your allies. Thank you for the confidence and wisdom to say that a hand will be extended when their fist is unclenched. And thank you for understanding that our national security rests on our principles, the example we set for the world, and our alliances along with the excellence and strength of our military, rather than exclusively the latter. God Bless America.
Senator Claire McCaskill: The Twilight Zone
This game of anti-Americanism by the public faces of the Republican Party, like Rush Limbaugh, is going to backfire big time and damage the Republican Party:
"LIMBAUGH: I think that everybody is laughing. Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn't deserve the award. Now that's hilarious, that I'm on the same side of something with the Taliban, and that we all are on the same side as the Taliban.

More from Media Matters:
Reminiscent of the Friday Freakout that followed the glorious news that Chicago, and the United States, had been denied the honor of hosing the Summer Olympic Games (Hallelujah!), the same Obama-hating voices in the right-wing media are outraged that the President of the United States has won the Nobel Prize.
McCaskill is right to tell the truth about this. The Republicans are giving us a real opportunity to oppose them. They want America to fail because they hate Obama. Limbaugh said it last wionter: I want Obama to fail. The truth is, if they cannot control America with their philosphy of hate, they want this nation to fail.
Spread the meme. Over and over. Tell your friends. Ask questions at gas stations when your chatting in line. Why do Republicans want America to fail? Why do they root against America?
