I dunno. For some reason, there was no floor schedule posted for today when I sat down to put this together last night, and it's still not there.
But the previous day's schedule tells us they're in the post-cloture period on the Reid-Baucus substitute amendment to the unemployment insurance extension bill. That could last up to 30 hours from yesterday's 5pm vote. And that'd only be the end of the process as far as the substitute amendment goes. If Republicans wanted to cause more trouble, they could still filibuster the bill itself, and cost us all another few days while we wade through that procedure. And why wouldn't they? They just wasted a week on forcing a cloture vote that garnered just two votes against, so the game-playing is fairly naked and obvious here. So we can probably expect the Senate to be spending its day on unemployment benefits. Again.
In other news: there are still seven appropriations bills that need taking care of, and we're still not quite there on the health insurance reform thingy. But we've got full tanks of congratulations, honors, recognition and condemnation ready to roll for 10 suspensions on the House schedule, this early November Wednesday morning.
Today's committee schedule appears below.
