Edit: I have reposted this diary in response to the one posted by MinistryOfTruth concerning the wish for another attack on us. This kind of thinking is not new. Conservatives thrive on fear. They do well when everyone is scared and gets behind a strongman leader.
With Limbaugh and Conservatives wanting Obama to fail I think it is time to remind everyone that wishing destruction on this country is nothing new for conservatives.
From Limbaugh and Malkin to Grandpa Fred and on and on and on... wanting people to suffer is par for the course.
Here is the Beck video again:
Wanting American citizens to die for the sake of political power? You betcha. From John Gibson giving the idea of another 9/11 legitimacy:
to Rumsfeld saying another 9/11 would make people back Bush policies:
RUMSFELD: That's what I was just going to say. This President's pretty much a victim of success. We haven't had an attack in five years. The perception of the threat is so low in this society that it's not surprising that the behavior pattern reflects a low threat assessment. The same thing's in Europe, there's a low threat perception. The correction for that, I suppose, is an attack.
to the Arkansas GOP head:
At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had.."
to religious fake Newt Gingrich:
"And it's almost like they should every once in a while have allowed an attack to get through just to remind us."
and the right-wing media that loves them.
Praying for destruction and murder is nothing new to this filth posing as legitimate "loyal opposition". If conservatives want to have a legitimate debate on issues and policy, I'm all for it. Debate is necessary. Trouble is, their ideology is about as useful (and destructive) as a CDS. And they know it. So they wish for death and destruction and the return of baby Jesus. So when bat-shit-insane people like Michelle Bachmann say things like Obama and Congress may be 'anti-American' or tells people that "I’m a foreign correspondent on enemy lines..." when referring to Congress, perhaps she and other conservatives, in their eternal search for enemies among us, should start by simply looking in the fucking mirror.
