Gibbs gives nonanswers at briefing
At Monday’s briefing, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs left an unusually large number of unanswered questions in his wake as he made his way through rows of reporters.
They were key questions, too — ones driving the news of the day, not fringe asides. They focused on the swine flu outbreak and a mock Air Force One photo-op flyover that caused panic in Lower Manhattan.
Gasp! What is Gibb's hiding? Oh, never mind ... from later in the article:
Later, the White House press office issued follow-up statements on both the death of the Mexican tour guide and on Air Force One.
But there was some humor in the waste of space disguised as a news story:
Gibbs gave an answer about how the president is handling the crisis, and said he would get back to Loven, who noted, "it used to be that if there was a question of, a follow-up on the briefing, that there would be sort of an asterisk in the transcript or some way to get us the facts."
Yes, waxing poetic about the good old days of the Bush administration, where they would give reporters all of the facts ...
