In an alternative life, I would have gone to Liberty University. It was my first pick of colleges back in 11th grade. At this point, I would have been a member of their Democratic Club. Thankfully, I was too stupid to apply for college in 2005, so I never got accepted. (I am at a community college now waiting to transfer to NC State) Anyways... I am dumbfounded about the recent decision made to ban the democratic club. I suppose I shouldn't be that shocked, but I am. This really doesn't make any sense. The really confusing part about this is the fact that they banned the group on moral grounds. They claimed that the group was not consistent with their views.
Here is the clip from the Rachel Maddow Show that appeared last night
So here is the letter I would like to write to the head of Liberty:
"Dear Liberty University,
I would strongly recommend that you disband any and all republican or conservative clubs. These clubs are in strict defiance against your moral views. They are completely against and at some times at war with the teachings of your beloved Jesus Christ. 'The Republican Party platform is contrary to the mission of LU and to christian doctrine (supports war, federal funding of war, advocates repeal some of California's citizens rights, promotes the "NRA" agenda, environmental crimes which include the on going 'global warming doesn't exist' and lets offshore drill, super capitalism, ect.) If you disagree with me, you are wrong. Look at your bible. Did Jesus ever own a gun? Do you think he would advocate owning weapons? Did Jesus try to promote killing 'gentiles'? Did Jesus discriminate against people at all? Was Jesus the sole founder of Capitalism? Was Jesus for offshore drilling and did he think that global warming didn't exist? In light of all of this recent evidence, we can now conclude that Jesus was not a republican... and if we are to fit into the mold of our creator, we must get rid of these clubs which support such heinous and un-biblical acts."
And there you have it folks: my letter to LU.
Seriously though? Unless they create a party... both sides have issues that don't match up with the bible. Why is the popular among them right? I went to a christian school in NC, and a lot of the people from my graduating class went on to go to LU... if I were them, I would be ashamed. Someone needs to do something about this.
