Democrats should get down on their knees and give a brief but fervent prayer of thanks for George Bush, The Man Who Never Has A Second Thought About Anything. Bush has handed the Democrats the TWO most powerful campaign spots of 2004.
1) "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! (NOT) Flight Suit Boy "jumped the shark" famously with this bit of televised hubris. Rove & Co. hijacked a carrier, dressed it up with a swell banner, turned the carrier so the backdrop would be more photogenic, then had Dubya sky in at "Golden Time" and declare the war over. Thanks, George -- this one piece of footage has EVERYTHING that makes Bush unlikable -- the gall, the lying, the emphasis on PR over reality, and the complete indifference to the actual men and women who are doing the fighting. Best of all, it cost the taxpayers a couple of million, AND Bush his own bad self is keeping it in play by lying about who created the "Mission Accomplished" banner! Yowsah! At least Lee Atwater had to shoot some extra footage for the Willie Horton spot (the infamous "turnstile" shot). Bush has done all the Dems work for them!
2) "BRING 'EM ON" -- Every day during the campaign, the Dems should run this infamous clip of Bush 'daring' the 'evil-doers' to attack Americans...and then run the names of the soldiers who were killed that day, along with a running total. "Isn't it about time we had someone who cared enough about out brave men and women in uniform to try to keep them out of harm's way, instead of daring the enemy to attack them?"
HOW TO TELL IF THESE SPOTS ARE WORKING -- the Wingnut Screech Monkeys start ranting about how "unfair" they are, etc. The beauty here is that Dubya is hanging himself with his own words.
