International reactions to the disputed election in Iran has been careful. Most walk the careful line of not giving the appearance of meddling in another's domestic affairs and thus legitimizing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's ultimate goal of harshly crushing the opposition as enemies of the state.
Iran directly accused the United States of meddling in the deepening crisis over a disputed presidential election and broadened its media clampdown Wednesday to include blogs and news Web sites.

But some have immediately come out to support Ahmadinejad's power grab.
This uprising has gone further than disputing an election between ultraconservative and moderate conservative politicians, it's the reaction of a people that are sick and tired of being dominated by a theocracy.
It's not just young, liberal rich kids anymore: Whole families, taxi drivers, even conservative women in black chadors are joining Iran's opposition street protests.

And the world is watching...
International human rights organizations said Wednesday that many prominent activists and politicians have been arrested in response to protests over the Iran's disputed election.

There have been some expressions of concern from the UN, EU, US, Canada and Israel while others have quickly congratulated the "reelection". These include the likes of the Arab League, Hezbollah, Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, Muqtada al-Sadr, Russia, China, North Korea, Syria and Venezuela.
Key Arab nations have kept silent about Iran's political upheaval, possibly reluctant to antagonize the powerful nation that sponsors such militant groups as Hezbollah and Hamas.

But others such as Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, and Iraq have surprised me. Especially Afghanistan and Iraq given their recent history. With friends like them who needs enemies?

I am a citizen of the world. I know that every other citizen of this world wants basic human rights and freedoms such as the freedom of expression, freedom of belief, freedom from poverty and freedom from fear.
The world is quickly and completely modernizing and technology has allowed communications to reach into the most isolated corners. People are talking to people and ideas are flowing and those basic freedoms will be met by all the peoples of this good Earth.
I am not dismissing the idea that President Obama's direct appeal to the Muslim World with his speech as helping to further this process further along, quicker.
I am also not dismissing the idea that foreign intelligence agents, like the CIA, may be agents provocateur in this uprising.
What I do know is that the human spirit is not easily crushed under a fascist's jackboot even if bones are.
