Kosopolitans and liberals in general are not as pro-space as I am or I'd like (setting aside the general agreement that Bush is probably pretty much lying about his declared intentions in this regard), but you all do have a right to take part in our democracy, and to voice your concerns, praise, or criticisms.
The President's Commission on
Moon, Mars and Beyond has set up a web page to solicit such opinions and I suggest you check it out, and that you do offer them your input on their goals. Please realize that while Bush is behind this politically, there are a lot of good people that would also like to see Space Research flourish. Your letter might be read by someone that agrees with you about Bush's political intent and value (there is no shortage of liberalism among scientists). This person still honestly wants this to lead to rational ideas and plans that will benefit science and mankind.
Use the "Contact Us" link on the side of the page to submit your opinions.
Yeah, I want a moon base... Yeah, I want man on mars... Yeah, I think that's about as likely to get from Bush as getting no children left behind.
And no, I don't think it's a wise use of funds at the moment (funds that would be taken from scientific pursuits) at least as far as Mars is concerned. A moon base seems far more reasonable, but I still don't trust Bush with that (personally I'm not interested in blowing up the moon).
