VP Cheney picked two replacements for Libby today. Everyone expected Addington to be named Chief of Staff, but I don't remember hearing speculation that
possible turn-coat John Hannah would be his choice for his own private National Security Advisor.
If Rawstory and other speculation is true, why oh why would Cheney pick Hannah for that post?
From our buddy Nedra at the AP
"Vice President Dick Cheney, moving swiftly to replace an indicted aide, on Monday named attorney David Addington as his chief of staff and John Hannah as his national security adviser.
Both positions had been filled by I. Lewis Libby, who resigned Friday when he was indicted on perjury and other charges in a 22-month investigation of the unmasking of an undercover CIA officer.
Addington has been Cheney's counsel and Hannah has been his deputy national security adviser."
I guess it's understandable that the would pick Libby's second in command for that role, but things do seem to be getting curiouser and curiouser.
Maybe Hannah hasn't turned and maybe Rawstory was full of sh*t. Or maybe Cheney is just following the old saying about keeping one's enemies closer than one's friends? In any event, it's pretty clear that both Addington and Hannah are up to their necks in Treasongate. Maybe they feel they will be safer if they "hang together."
