Dear CNN,
You aren't perfect, but you are OK. Rick Sanchez certainly has his moments. Your Iranian coverage, although initially poor, has been very good. And while I think you miss the boat on a lot of issues, especially the lack of attention you give certain issues (such as the content of the torture memos and less talk about whether they should have been released), I think you at least try to be fair-ish.
Except for Lou Dobbs, the racist, insane, Obama-hating pontificator from 4-5 pm Pacific time. This guy sis a complete and utter disgrace, his self-proclaimed "independence" and thinking he is the voice of the "common man" is ridiculous. His anti-immigration tirades are problematic, his anti-Obama screeds are ridiculous. His daily poll is a joke (99% of you agreed that you didn't want health care reform if it was going to cost more money, make everyone gravely ill, delay medical care, allow immigrants to invade our country, and include provisions to make kittens into handbags).
He is embarrassing your network on a daily basis. SHUT HIM DOWN!
His latest venture into "birther" land is just another example that this idiotic, insufferable, insane windbag deserves no airtime on your respectable station at all and especially not in prime time. In my opinion this man is worse than Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly because you allow him on your station. Everyone knows Fox is right wing toolbox, but your channel, well folks might get fooled.
Want some evidence of his birther windbaggery? Media Matters has a nice round-up of recent events. Some highlights:
During the July 15 edition of his radio program, CNN host Lou Dobbs devoted substantial airtime to the issue of President Obama's birth certificate, asserting repeatedly that the president needs to "produce" it. Dobbs said that the birth certificate posted online by FactCheck.org "purporting to validate the president" has "some issues ... I mean, it's peculiar," and stated that he wants to see a "long form" birth certificate, which he called "the real deal."
During his program, Dobbs repeatedly faulted Obama for what he said was Obama's failure to definitively answer questions raised about his birth certificate:
>> Dobbs stated: "The first thing is to determine whether or not his birth certificate is valid. And what I don't understand is why that has not been released and given over to the public record."
>> After a caller said "something doesn't smell right" with Obama, Dobbs said that the "way to get rid of those odors is always just open the windows and let the sun shine in. And all we need here is a doggone document, but for some reason the president doesn't want to release that."
>> Dobbs said that in contrast to efforts undertaken by Sen. John McCain "to determine that he met the standard of natural-born citizen," there is "absolutely, you know, no effort to do so on the part of Barack H. Obama. Nor, as also our callers have pointed out, this president would not release his medical records. And the national media seemed to be fine with that, whereas they probably would have eviscerated John McCain for failing to do so."
>> After a caller theorized that Obama is rushing through programs because Obama "knows what's coming" with regard to the birth certificate lawsuits, Dobbs said: "Certainly your view can't be discounted at this point, because this president refused to provide the documentation that would settle all of the controversy here."
>>After a caller said she initially thought the birth certificate controversy was "the dumbest thing ever," Dobbs replied:
DOBBS: Well, it is a dumb thing. I think we have to all admit this is a dumb thing either way, because, I mean, I can't understand why the president wouldn't just move to get this stuff out of the way. Show the documents, get it done -- I mean, he -- think about it.
Let's not even mention the fact that you gave considerable airtime to Alan Keyes and Orly Taitz as you discussed the "legitimacy" of Major Cook's stupid claim that he doesn't need to serve under Obama. You gave them a forum and didn't challenge them at all.
Referring to the document that FactCheck.org posted, Dobbs said, "It is, in fact, the so-called short form, not the original document. It is really a document saying that the state of Hawaii has the real document in its possession."
Of course this is just the latest, Dobbs' well known hate for anything NOT American and for the way illegal immigration is DESTOYING AMERICA is legendary enough that Jon Stewart can joke about it, and everyone knows what the hell he is talking about (the 6:30 mark)
Also, let's not forget the time he wouldn't disavow the fact that Obama might be the Devil
GAMBLING: Well, good. I'm glad to hear that, at least because I think Barack Obama is not putting an end to the American dream. He has some ideas that I completely and totally disagree with when it comes to economically. When he wants to raise taxes on anybody considering our financial institutions and where we are today it makes no sense to me whatsoever on any level. He's not the devil that Dan is trying to paint him to be.
DOBBS: Maybe he is the devil. We're not going to rule that out yet.
Lou Dobbs calls himself an independent, likes to align himself with the common man. It is true he may not be a Republican, he seems to hate everything about politics....including politics trying to get things done. He has a vendetta against Obama and any of his proposed solutions to this country's crippling problems. Being the voice of craziness does not make you an independdent, it just makes you sound crazy.
CNN, it is time to rein in your crazy Uncle Lou and shut him down, he is an embarrassment to your network.
