Unconvicted war criminal John Yoo probably thought he'd be getting out of the limelight when he temporarily relocated from Berkeley, where he holds a tenured professorship at prestigious Boalt Hall School of Law, to the friendlier surroundings of Orange County and little-known Chapman University. Alas, it was not to be.
You remember Professor Yoo. He's the former Office of Legal Counsel staffer and primary author of the infamous "Torture Memos" by which the Bush Administration attempted to define its way around the word "torture" in order to justify, well, torture. You know, the one who once testified to Congress that it's legal to crush children's testicles if the President says it's legal?
An actor from the Australian comedy show "The Chaser's War On Everything" showed up at one of Prof. Yoo's lectures dressed as the iconic Abu Ghraib hooded prisoner, climbed on a desk, and asked Prof. Yoo a couple of pointed questions. Here's the video:
The prankster gets a big laugh from the class when he says, "I'd like to move but every time I try my balls get buzzed." To his credit, Yoo actually tells the prankster that he'll allow him "a certain amount of time before I report you to security." (Who says war criminals don't have a sense of humor?) Unfortunately, a mean law school bureaucrat appears seconds later and loudly demands that the prankster leave.
Yoo, for maybe a minute, finally got his nose rubbed in his own filth. What does it say that about America that it took some Aussies to do it?
