As a member of Generation Dean and the Howard Dean campaign, I helped organized the "Drive for Democracy" tour and traveled to over thirty states and met with thousands of people. Most of them had never been involved in politics before, but they believed that beating George Bush was important and that they could make a difference.
The people I met with determined Howard Dean was the one who could beat George Bush, but now, with Dean's recent exit from the race, many are not sure where they should turn. We still need a candidate to support who will fight to restore the American Dream to the millions of people who feel disenfranchised by the current administration. I believe Senator John Edwards is that candidate.
Senator Edwards has spent his entire career fighting for working Americans. He grew up in a small town, was raised in a working-class family and knows the problems that normal Americans face everyday.
I have spoken with people all around the country about their needs and their belief America can be a better place. What those people are looking for is what John Edwards wants to see in America. We need to bring people out of poverty, provide quality healthcare to our children and seniors and allow all children the equal opportunity for a first-rate education.
We need a Democratic Nominee who can beat George W. Bush and give real people a voice in the White House again. As a southerner who beat an incumbent Republican for a Senate seat, in North Carolina, John Edwards is about as electable as you can get.
John Edwards believes in the American Dream, he's a product of that promise. As someone who believes in that same ideal and stood side-by-side with Howard Dean in his campaign to change America, I wholly endorse Senator John Edwards for President of the United States.
